We’ve been in Barcelona, Girona, Zaragoza and now outside San Sebastian. Spending every minute of my day surrounded by beauty that goes back centuries is so nourishing at every level. One of the most interesting things I learned was about Goya. I liked Goya, but really had no idea of how expansive his work is and how modern he was and far ahead of his time. Most importantly, from my point of view, was his subject matter. At the Goya Museum there was an entire room dedicated to his intricate and beautiful sketches of the people who were oppressed. He was particularly sympathetic to the plight of women, how powerless they were and, as a result, victimized.
The Dali Museum was also wonder. I enjoyed it far more than I expected. If you’d like to see some of the pictures from my trip including some extraordinary art, please visit my travel blog. www.herenotthere.net
I sold a painting, “The World Weeps” this week though it won’t be shipped until I return in mid August. It was painted the day after the election. I was so miserable. At this moment, that feeling feels very far away.
